New EP: The Hobknobs || Gather No Moss

Music and words by Yaël Dekker and Arie van Vliet, a wonderful match

Please meet The Hobknobs, a new art pop project from the Netherlands by Yaël Dekker (The Klittens) and Arie van Vliet (Lewsberg). They make their debut under this moniker with the Gather No Moss EP, three wobbly tracks that unite the best of the two skilled singer-songwriters, in terms of lyrics (poetic and intriguing), vocals (angelic versus monotonous cool), and instruments (primitive but totally on target). It’s a match made in heaven, light and dark at the same time.

They start off subdued with a peek into The Mind (“Look through your window, walk through your door // There’s no reason to stay inside anymore”), then pick up the pace a bit with My Conditions and Are You Looking For Something?—chances are you’ll reach for the repeat button to hear what you heard again, but better.

Gather No Moss, recorded & mixed by Jaap van der Velde, is out now digitally and on limited edition cassette through Correct Cassettes.
