Fans of bands like Natural Child, Nude Party and Sean Thompson’s Weird Ears may already be familiar with Los Angeles-based cosmic country collective Caravan 222, and if not, this is an incentive to dive into their work. A great place to start is their latest album, Country Bangers, Vol. 2—a sequel to 2023’s Country Bangers EP—and it’s eight neo-psychedelic Americana songs, including the atypical spoken-word Turtle Track, and with Junk and Cherries as highlights. This is a shimmering 25-minute soundtrack, laid-back and colorful, for swampy summer days.
