New album: Transistors || Everything Will Never Happen Again

The killer third LP from New Zealand’s most infectious punky power pop trio is finally here

Ready for some bloody awesome punky power pop, New Zealand style? Transistors are here for you with their 14-song third album, which may or may not have been recorded, may have been finished or not a decade ago, around the band’s demise in 2016. In today’s murky info landscape, I’m skeptical of such claims. But honestly? Who cares.

Because Everything Will Never Happen Again doesn’t sound like the work of a band that’s been rusting away in storage. This thing rips like a well-oiled machine at full throttle—think Mad Max but way less scary, much less bleak, and with an unlimited espresso budget

The high energy makes the hooks hit even harder, and if you’d ask me right now what kind of music I’m into, I’d push this record forward and let hits like Consolation Prize and Ogden City Mall (best known for being the site of Tiffany’s I Think We’re Alone Now video) make my case.

After Transistors called it quits, James Harding (ICYMI, read our Gimme 5 feature with James here) took his talents to ATW-favorites Best Bets. His current bandmate Joe Sampson (also of Salad Boys) recorded Everything Will Never Happen Again, keeping it all in the family. I guess I just want to say that I really don’t care when this record was made—I’m just happy it’s out there. Now, if only Melted Ice Cream had pressed more than 50 copies. Take my money, dudes!
