Ike Goldman is a singer-songwriter from Glasgow, Scotland, who intrigues with this psychedelic DIY indie pop release reminiscent of The Beach Boys. It features two subdued songs—Newt and Lovers (almost 10 minutes) and Bowling Green (over 2 minutes)—that he recorded through his Sanyo dictaphone, previously owned by the Northumbria Probation Service. The ghostly nature of the music was not his initial intention, perhaps these are echoes of the unknown history of the device, but it works very well. Anyway, the sound of an old piano, a slightly less old synth, and hazy vocals create a mysterious, cinematic and intimate atmosphere that casts a long shadow. Theatrical and immersive.
Newt and Lovers b/w Bowling Green is out digitally (self-released).
