New album: Brown Dog || I Thought I Was Gonna Dance

Melancholic elegance with bark and soul

Brown Dog is a folk rock outfit from Berkeley, California, featuring Milo Jimenez (vocals, guitars, banjo, harmonica), Haniel Roland-Holst (vocals, guitars, drums), Stew Homans (bass, keys), Jeff Phunmongkol (pedal steel) and Gabriel Bennet (flute, bass clarinet). Just eight months after their beautiful Lucky Star Creek LP, they are back with their next album, which bears the imaginative title I Thought I Was Gonna Dance. You’ll hear eight well-crafted songs to lose yourself in. Transcendent and melancholic, heartfelt and intriguing. Mostly subdued and controlled, but with a frayed edge and even a barking dog (probably a brown one) in the background.

I Thought I Was Gonna Dance, recorded, mixed and mastered by Haniel Roland-Holst, is out now digitally and on very limited cassette (self-released). Also featuring Elihu Knowles (drums on Sweet Exits).
