New single: Junebearer || Back The Way We Came

The Growers' Steven Boyle branches out

Steven Boyle, the creative force behind The Growers, returns with a fresh project that sees him branching out both musically and collaboratively. While The Growers channels raw, emo-tinged punk rock as a solo venture, Junebearer finds Boyle inviting talented friends along for the ride.

The debut release Back The Way We Came is a brief but potent two-song affair. The title track stays within shouting distance of The Growers’ territory while introducing subtle Americana flourishes, complete with heart-on-sleeve lyrics about fading love (“I saw you in the stories and you’re living out your dreams of diamond rings and Christmas with your family. I can’t relate to those things but the feelings…well they mostly fade away. And it’s too late to go back the way we came.”). The B-side Tin Cans takes a decisive turn into alt-country territory with its semi-acoustic approach.

Even the cover art carries emotional weight – a striking vintage photo of Boyle’s grandmother perched on a car’s hood. Keep an eye on Junebearer’s Bandcamp, word is there’s more coming soon (including fresh material from The Growers).
