New album: Radar || Radar

Sometimes it’s worth circling back: let's not overlook the self-titled debut by Radar (NYC)

At Add To Wantlist, we’re faced with editorial decisions every day—deciding which records make the cut for a write-up and which, unfortunately, slip through the cracks. With the constant flood of new music, it’s inevitable that some gems get overlooked. Case in point: Radar’s self-titled debut album, released last May on LP via Dead Broke Rekerds. I remember listening to it, I actually remember liking it quite a bit, but for one reason or another—other releases, work, family life—it didn’t get the attention it deserved.

Then, this week, I received a message from one of our readers saying, “This has to be on your site.” I gave it a second spin and, damn, he was right. Radar is a no-nonsense, forward-charging punk rock record that will thrill pop-punk fans. It’s packed with catchy tunes and high-energy moments that are hard to ignore. RIYL: RVIVR, Big Eyes.

If, like me, you missed out the first time or dismissed it too quickly, give it another shot. It’s never too late to make it right.
