After four years of radio silence, Pascal (vocals, guitar, organ), Jello (bass) and Panpan of Lyon-based punk rock outfit Faux Départ are back with a self-titled EP that’s too good not to share. Two shiny sides of black vinyl offer four catchy tunes with meaningful French lyrics, blissful guitar chords, a vibrant rhythm section and characterful vocals. Closing song Toujours Là strongly conveys that our kind of people do not want to grow up: “Quarantenaire punk, et toujours dans la place // Quarantenaire punk, t’es comme un drogué, accro au bruit et à la marginalité” – that actually says it all.
The self-titled Faux Départ EP, recorded by Luis Navarro. is out now digitally and on 7″ vinyl through Hidden Bay Records, Andalucia Über Alles, Mutant Records, Tranzophobia, Tocsin and Rollmops.
