“Especially restless souls can indulge themselves in West Country“, I wrote about the 2022 debut full-length from Bristol, UK-based four-piece Langkamer, and “It sounds like the musicians have played it with big smiles”, about 2023 successor The Noon And Midnight Manual. Now the slacker rockers continue their successful streak – 2024 brings album number 3 – with a variation on the band name as the album title: Langzamer is a Dutch word that means slower, expressed in 10 new songs that are a little more subdued and thoughtful. Lyrically it is a sincere and clever meditation on grief and loss, musically still a solid and melodic mix of alt-country and indie rock. The production was in the safe hands of Ben Woods of The Golden Dregs, also playing on one of the songs. It resulted in a record where heavy and light go together, with a comforting feeling as a reward.
Langzamer, produced by Ben Woods, is out now digitally, on CD and vinyl LP, through Breakfast Records.
