Spanish quartet Star Trip (Valencia) clearly takes a few pages out of the Teenage Fanclub playbook, crafting their own Spanish-language take on the band’s signature sound. Velocidad, their third album (all three released on Pretty Olivia Records), offers 30 minutes of gentle, generous and tastefully excuted guitar pop.

If you lean towards the harmonious, jangly and sweet side of power pop, rather than the more distorted variety, Velocidad has plenty to offer. With Byrds and Big Star-influenced guitar work providing a lush backdrop for their melodic hooks, Star Trip have created a high quality album to nod and hum along to.
