Medway-based rhythm ‘n’ beat trio The Masonics return to our wantlist with four swinging original songs, in which Mickey Hampshire (vocals, guitar), John Gibbs (bass) and Bruce Brand (drums, percussion, organ) once again showcase their keen ears and enviable experience (The Milkshakes, The Pop Rivets, Thee Headcoats, The Wildebeests, The Kaisers, etc). Thanks to an irresistible groove and an earworm chorus, the title track is the big hit here, but the organ melody of You’re Gonna Live Life Sad is equally infectious. Those two tracks alone are worth the purchase, but you also get raucous instrumental floor-filler Operation Drumbeat and the more subdued, melancholic closing track All Alone. The Masonics still got it, all.
