V. Tiers, the creative force behind New Mexico’s Jacket Burner, follows up his rapid-fire debut EP (written in one week and recorded in four hours earlier in 2024) with a ten-song album titled Terminal Depression. True to its dark title, the album steers clear of sunny pop-punk territory.
Instead, Jacket Burner delivers trashy, lo-fi Ramonescore tunes centered on themes of “depression, alienation, loathing and irresponsible action.” There’s zero gloss here, no bells and whistles – just straightforward, raw punk. Despite the bleak content, these unvarnished tracks manage to hit a lot of right notes.
