New single: Joyful Toy || Next Door Dahmer

Retro punk gem by a mysterious collective from Cleveland

It can be annoying for us bloggers when there is zero information about a release your excited about. In case of Cleveland Ohio’s Joyful Toy, information is prvided, but it reveals little: “Joyful Toy is a music and art collective based in and around Cleveland, Ohio, the members of which choose to be entirely anonymous. Musical influences include The Cramps, X-Ray Spex, The Residents, Blue Öyster Cult and Frank Zappa.”

Their Bandcamp page boasts a substantial catalog, hinting at the collective’s fondness for classic horror films. Their latest release, the three-song Next Door Dahmer delivers some serious protopunk goodness that sounds eerily like a highly sought-after ’70s punk single – please don’t let this be created by A.I.!
