Midsommaren from Helsinki (Finland) are made up of six friends who just dropped their debut EP. Featuring five tracks, this EP is punk rock at heart, but it also weaves in surfy guitars (check out Sottunga and Sommarkvällen) and post-punk influences.
Midsommaren showcase a fantastic sense of melody, balanced with a darker, melancholic undertone that transcends their native language lyrics. Love the band’s energy, love the heartfelt (dual) singing, and love the pop sensibility that is delivered with punk attitude. I’ll be keeping my ears peeled for more from this band for sure!
