New York City-based twee pop/indie rock group Here For You make a credible entrance with their two-track debut single, Sibling b/w Moving Away. There are seven of them – Rebecca Lewit (harp, vocals), Jordan C Weinstock (electric guitar, vocals), Jasen Vest (electric guitar), Ethan Abelar (acoustic guitar), Anthony Graffigna (bass, organ), Mike Nowortarski (accordion) and Adam Holmes (drums) – but at no point do the songs sound too stuffed. The music and vocals (coloring just outside the lines) and lyrics (“I love musicI love singin // I love every singalong // I love harmonies like Ethan’s // Even when I feel withdrawn”) are as appealing as can be. Fifteen years ago these would have been indie hits (alongside bands as Los Campesinos!, Belle & Sebastian and Camera Obscura), why wouldn’t that also be possible now?
Sibling b/w Moving Away, recorded by Mike Tierney, is out now digitally through Atlanta Zone Records and Heavenly Creature Records.
