Il Sogno del Marinaio (Italian for The Sailor’s Dream) is the avant-rock trio featuring living legend Mike Watt (Minutemen, Firehose, Stooges) on vocals and bass, cult Italian experimentalist Stefano Pilia (Massimo Volume, In Zaire, Afterhours, Rokia Traore ) on guitar and vocals, and creative rhythmist Paolo Mongardi (Zeus, Fuzz Orchestra, Fulkanelli, Micah P. Hinson) on drums. Terzo (translated: Third) is their new full-length album, following up 2014’s Canto Secondo. We get eight pieces of fascinating music, partly instrumental, in which noise rock, post-punk, free jazz and funky blues influences come together, most strongly when supplemented with gravelly beat poetry. This record is sharp, adventurous and truly unique.
Terzo is out now digitally, on CD and vinyl LP, through Improved Sequence. Also featuring Ramon Moro (trumpet) and Petra Haden (vocals).

I’ve discovered a lot of good bands through your blog and this might be my favorite. I hadn’t heard of it at all even with Watt’s involvement. Thanks for sharing!
