Here is a record that is destined to be overlooked by most, received with shrugs by others and absolutely win the hearts of a specific group of music fans. Fellow garage pop punk fans, let me introduce you to the self-titled debut by Denver trio Tuff Bluff (members of Curious Things, Lawsuit Models, The Manxx & The Yellnats). Tuff Bluff are equal parts scrappy and poppy, and will scratch your itch for old school pop punk nostalgia while avoid sounding like a redundant carbon copy. Give Tuff Bluff a minute or two, and they will deliver a pop punk gem at your doorstep. They don’t hide that they are a three-piece. Rather than relying on power chords and doubled guitars, bass and guitar riffs and licks tumble over eachother fighting for prominence. Lo-fi, loose and charming, this has everything I could ask for in a garage pop punk record in 2024. I am liking this a lot!
Co-released by Snappy Little Numbers and Motorcycle Potluck Records, Tuff Bluff is out now on 12″ vinyl.
