Last week we wrote about Wisconsin Anger Team, this week we cover Wisconsin Dream Guitar who actually reside in Prince George (BC). I should say resides, because it appears to be a one man show. “Written and recorded by rd. All instruments by rd,” is about the only information shared on the Bandcamp page of his latest album False Beach Weekend. A deeper dig tells me rd stands for Robert Dunlap, who also released music as Dry Socket, Big Old Eyes, Bob Cloud, Aleutians, and Beach Velvet.
Clearly, Dunlop loves creating music but doesn’t necessarily desires to have the spotlight on his persona. His new Wisconsin Dream Guitar album should be able to find an audience though. Sure, False Beach Weekend sounds like it was recorded directly to a tape deck. It’s that lo-fi. But the low production value does not hurt the jangly slacker indie rock songs by Dunlop at all. It may in fact only add to the appeal.
